Kelly Convicted On Charges Of Child Pornography
In an unusual case, a woman named Carrie Kelly was sentenced for being found guilty of possessing and distributing child pornography last Friday. Kelly, who is from Brazoria County, just south of Houston, Texas, was first arrested in April of 2010 after police raided her home and discovered over 3,000 images of child pornography on two separate Dell laptop computers. Kelly initially told investigators that some of the images were of herself as a child and that she did not know where the rest of the photos or videos had come from. Later, however, Kelly admitted to having downloaded the illegal content. Kelly was sentenced to five years in prison, then 25 years of supervised released afterward. Kelly's case is unusual because women are not arrested for, or convicted of, possession of child pornography as often as men are.
