Teen Arrested For Multiple Sexual Assault Charges

A Santa Clarita teenager was arrested by local law enforcement agents last week after several young girls claim he sexually assaulted them. Michael Downs, who is just 19 years old, is facing 29 charges of sexual assault from as many as 14 different girls, with more possible victims to come forward. His supposed victims range in age from 12 years old to 16. The investigation into Downs started earlier this month when a young girl came to Santa Clarita police claiming Downs had sexually assaulted her earlier in the year. As investigators with the Special Victims Bureau began investigating the case, they had 13 other girls come forward with allegations of sexual assault by Downs. According to reports, Downs met his victims in many places, including social networking sites such as Facebook or even at live social events, where he claimed to be just 16 years old. Downs frequently claimed he was friends with other teenage girls in order to befriend the victims, then setting up times to meet in person where the assault would occur. Santa Clarita police have notified the public that they are investigating Downs and are asking anyone with additional information to contact them. Downs is due back in court on January 11th and is being held in police custody on $1.8 million bail.
