Syracuse Coach Put On Administrative Leave During Child Abuse Investigation
Syracuse University basketball coach Bernie Fine has been put on administrative leave while university officials and local law enforcement agents investigate allegations that he sexually abused two young ball boys. Fine, who is an assistant coach for Syracuse University's famed basketball program, is accused of molesting both Bobby Davis and his step-brother, Mike Lang, over a decades-long period that began when both men were ball boys with the basketball program in the early 1980s. Davis and Lang are now 39 and 45, respectively. Both men allege that Find repeatedly abused them at the University, on road trips with the team, and even at his own home. University officials had, in 2005, also investigated claims through its own legal counsel made by an unidentified "young adult male" that he had also been subjected to inappropriate contact with Fine. The four-month investigation did not include local law enforcement agents at the time, and Fine vehemently denied any wrongdoing. Allegations against Fine came just two weeks after allegations of sexual abuse also surfaced against Pennsylvania State University assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky. Fine has not yet been charged with any crime.
